Stephania erecta – Live Plant Sage Garden Herbs

Details: These little darlings are very, very cool. The plant develops a flower stem followed by architectural leafy stems, all growing from the “potato-like” above-ground caudex! Stephania erecta thrives on warmth, humidity and low light. Water the growing medium sparingly, but perhaps keep your plant in an enclosure or near a regular source of humidity. Common mixes used for this plant include LECA, pumice, or vermiculite. Since Stephania erecta has many reserves stored up in its caudex you do not need to fertilize initially; however, we do recommend fertilizing with Evolve Organic All-Purpose monthly once your plant has put on true leaves. 

These plants develop slowly over months. You can expect the leafy growth to develop over the next couple of months and roots may not develop from the bottom of the caudex for several more months. It is common to see a flower stem develop before leaves. 

Container Size: We have 4 sizes of Stephania erecta available, from standard bulbs to super-sized XL bulbs!  All bulbs listed have clear signs of sprouting as of August 5, 2021. We are not photographing each individual bulb but have photographed each size with a ruler for reference. They are sold in coarse vermiculite, without roots, in plastic nursery pots.

Shipping is available across Canada on these. The shipping rate is $18.00 per order via Canada Post Express (tracked). We will ship orders placed August 6 – 8 on Monday, August 9, 2021 (unless temperatures in Manitoba are above 30 C, in which case we will wait until the next shipping-friendly Monday). Important: Canada Post does not currently guarantee shipping times therefore we cannot be responsible for any shipping delays. When will orders be ready? Confirmed orders can be picked up during business hours anytime after 12 pm on August 6, 2021. Orders must be picked up within 2 days of purchase. 

Return Policy: All sales are final on Stephania erecta. The available plants have all got confirmed sprouts and are healthy. Please be aware these are sold as semi-dormant bulbs coming into regrowth, and typically do not have roots at time of sale. A period of dormancy is normal for Stephania erecta.
